Bishop’s Annual Visit
January 25, 2009

The Rt. Rev. Wayne P. Wright, Bishop of the Diocese of Delaware, visited St. Alban’s on Sunday, January 25, 2009. Bishop Wright met with the Vestry at 9:30.

At 10:30, he celebrated Holy Eucharist with Confirmation. The congregation welcomed Kyle Patrick Lane and Alexandra Beth Lane into the fellowship and communion of St. Alban’s. Kyle and Alexandra are the children of parishioners Kevin and Melanie Lane.

A splendid reception followed the service. Bishop Wright spoke to parish members, saying how thankful he was for the generosity of St. Alban’s through uncertain times, for our compassion in caring for our community and for the faithfulness of St. Alban’s people to each other in Christ.
Bishop Wright said that we will have an able, experienced interim priest join us in the near future. Citing St Paul, he said that all things come together for good, and sometimes, he added, you just get lucky. Also, in the next few weeks, he and Diocesan Staff will be meeting with the Brandywine clergy, as a first step, to discuss how St. Alban’s path forward will affect the church north of Wilmington, but always guided by a plan that provides a wholesome, vital life for our parish.
Bishop Wright closed by saying that in the midst of our ups and downs, there is a great spirit here and that the good and faithful people of St. Alban’s are doing well.
